Flip or Flop: Bathrooms

Updated: Feb 2, 2020

Its really hard to take photo after photo of ugly bathrooms. But, I always wish I had them when its time for the "afters." Sadly, this is the only before picture I have of the bathrooms at the flip or flop, but they all three looked like this:

So, in a word: gross.

They all needed a cosmetic overhaul, and the difficulty was trying to balance the number of options with cost. We wanted special bathrooms that would appeal to people without being safe and boring.

First Up: Master Bath

So, maybe this one is a little on the safe side. We found a beautiful vanity online, and then some great tile for a custom shower surround and floor. We added a recessed medicine cabinet, since the bathroom footprint only allowed for a 36" vanity, and despite its size I think it looks really luxurious.

We had a little more fun in the upstairs bathroom. We paneled the walls with a more traditional board and bat paneling, but used a bold color to really make the subtle color on the patterned floors show up. We used off-the-shelf white tile in the shower, but the combination of 3x6 and 6x6 tile makes it a little more special.

Upstairs Bath:

The Downstairs Bath is simple, but I think the wallpaper makes it my favorite. I had to convince some people that pink and purple wallpaper would work, but it really picks up the purple undertones on the vanity and mirror.
